Info on the Poet Laureate Robert Currie

Robert Currie is a critically acclaimed and award-winning author of poetry, fiction, and radio plays whose work has appeared in numerous literary magazines and over 40 anthologies. He has published four poetry chapbooks, six books of poetry and three novels. His most recent book of poetry is Witness.
Currie is also an experienced instructor. He taught creative writing at the Saskatchewan Summer School of the Arts at Fort San for four years, at the Sage Hill Writing Experience for three summers, and at Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw for 30 years (where he also taught English).
In addition to his writing and teaching, he has been a dedicated volunteer in the Saskatchewan writing community since 1969. Among his many other activities he co-founded Coteau Books (1975) and was a founding Board member for the Saskatchewan Fesitval of Words (1997); he still serves on both boards.
Currie became Saskatchewan’s third Poet Laureate in 2007. He was appointed to a second term which will run until December 31st, 2010.
Currie has lived his entire life in Saskatchewan.
